As the settlers moved west in the 1820's land around Deloraine
was taken up and the township reserve was marked out in the 1830's.
The original village which grew up on the Alveston Estate in the
1840's was outside the town boundary.
The town began to develop after 1846 when the probation station
which was on the west bank of the river was moved.
The buildings highlighted on a walk show the wide variety of architecture,
style and type be found in Deloraine. A few of these such as Bonneys
In are open to the public, but most are private residence.
