A short ferry journey from either Louisville or Triabunna takes
you to this peaceful island. Besides the abundant and approachable
wildlife (including large forester kangaroos), the island has
historic buildings that pre-date the penal settlement at Port
Arthur and the remains later commercial ventures. Scuba diving
and snorkeling reveal a fascinating array of marine habitats,
and walks to mountain summits reward visitors with panoramic views
of the island and of Tasmania's east coast. There are no shops
on the island so once there visitors must be self sufficient.
